Rapid 5000
Designed by Spirited Designs
A 5.3 m trailerable power cat with a half cabin, full height windscreen and hardtop, built light in epoxy composite so that twin 40 hp outboards are enough. That setup is quoted at 20 to 25 knots cruising and about 30 flat out; twin 60s raise both figures. The cockpit is a flat self-draining floor with pedestal seats for driver and passenger, doors aft to the duckboard between the engines, and a small cabin forward with two single bunks.
It can be built from plans, with the parts dimensioned for the builder to cut, or from a CNC cut kit in DuFLEX, plain foam or plywood. The hull panels are screwed to a temporary MDF frame, the seams filled with epoxy, then the screws pulled and the joints shaped and glassed. The estimate is about 1,800 hours to a basic finish.
What building a Rapid 5000 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
