A 37 ft 4 in full-displacement diesel cruiser that Sam Devlin drew for himself and described in Passagemaker Magazine. A single 105 hp John Deere under the saloon sole gives 7.5 knots on about 1.75 gallons an hour, and 450 gallons of fuel is said to carry her 1,500 miles. She has one forward stateroom, a large head with dry shower, a deck-level saloon and galley, covered side decks and a covered aft cockpit under a long roof. Displacement is 26,500 lb.
Study plans only for now. A fantail displacement yacht of this weight is a yard-scale job or a very long amateur one. As a rough rule of thumb, allow 8,000 hours or more. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
