Amak 38
Designed by Sam Devlin
A tugboat concept measuring 37 ft 4 in on deck, part of Sam Devlin's Amak series of tug-styled workboats and cruisers. At 33,000 lb displacement, with a 12 ft 4 in beam and 50 in draft, she is a genuine small ship, and the page calls for an inboard diesel of 120 to 250 hp. The series takes its name from a Ketchikan tug Devlin crewed on during his college years.
Study plans are the only drawings available, and Devlin asks interested builders to contact him about developing the design. A vessel this heavy is a multi-year undertaking for a very experienced amateur or a professional yard. As a loose rule of thumb, think 7,000 hours and up. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.

Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
