A 38 ft 9 in displacement cruiser in which Sam Devlin reworks William Garden's Dynamo design for stitch and glue construction. The customer wanted Garden's arrangement unchanged and only the building method replaced, to escape the upkeep of plank-on-frame. She displaces 28,000 lb on a 12 ft 8 in beam, draws 52 in and has a 125 hp inboard diesel.
The Devlin site offers her as a custom yard build and lists no plans for sale, so a home builder would have to approach Sam Devlin. A heavy displacement yacht like this needs an experienced builder and many years. As a rough rule of thumb, allow 8,000 hours or more. Real hours from logged builds are below.
