Andante
Designed by Glen-L Marine
A 38 ft 5 in semi-displacement steel live-aboard cruising yacht from Glen-L Marine with a residential galley, a deckhouse with fireplace and sliding doors to a covered cockpit, and private cabins for two couples. 10 gauge sides and 3/16 in bottom, 65 to 140 hp diesel for 8 to 10 knots, about 29,200 lb.
The bare hull comes out at about 12,000 lb. Headroom below is 6'-4" to 6'-6". The hull is a semi-displacement, hard chine developed for sheet steel construction (10 Ga. sides, 3/16" bottom). A welded-steel hull followed by a very full interior; a builder needs welding skill or a welded shell to start from. Expect 5,000 hours or more. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Andante actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
