Gollywobbler 38
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 38 ft 6 in semi-displacement pilothouse trawler by Sam Devlin, built in his stitch and glue method. Beam is 12 ft, draft 38 in and displacement 18,000 lb. A single 185 hp Volvo Penta diesel gives a 10 knot cruise at about 4 gallons an hour and 13 knots flat out. The layout has a covered cockpit, galley and saloon aft, a raised pilothouse with all-round visibility, and a head, separate shower and cabin forward.
The design is offered as study plans and as a custom build from the Devlin shop, so an amateur would need to arrange construction drawings with the designer. Expect many thousands of hours over several years. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
What building a Gollywobbler 38 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
