Pro Vee

Designed by Bob Dillon

Bob Dillon's refined v-bottom, designed and built over the winter of 2007 into 2008 for GT Pro racing. He borrowed the bottom profile from a family of performance vees by Allison, Critchfield, Lee Craft and Rapid Craft, but scaled the boat for the 35 hp OMC rather than the 75 hp those heavier boats carry. The original won eight races and the class championship in both 2008 and 2009, after early porpoising and chine walk were cured with work on the transom.

She is 12 ft 7 in long with a 62 in beam and a hull weight around 190 lb, limited to 40 hp and 130 lb for non-racing use. Compared with the Mini Vee she rides softer and is steadier in rough water, but the more complex bottom makes her harder to build, and Dillon steers less experienced builders toward the Mini Vee instead. One owner reported 57.9 mph on a 40 hp Yamaha.
