12 ft Flat Bottom 433
Designed by Response Marine
The smallest hull in the Response Marine catalogue, a 12 ft 5 in by 5 ft 3 in welded aluminum flat bottom. The first one was built by Viking Welding as a rescue boat, fitted with a straddle console and run on a 20 hp outboard, which it handles well. The hull is open and not self-bailing.
Scantlings are light for welded work: an eighth-inch bottom with external channels running fore and aft, and the published weights are about 429 lb for the bare hull with a small console and 642 lb rigged with the 20 hp and batteries. As with all the company's kits, the package is a set of NC cutting files licensed for one hull plus construction drawings, parts and stock lists, and the designers expect to adjust details such as the console to suit the buyer.
