Didi 950
Designed by Dudley Dix
A 9.5 m (31 ft 2 in) radius chine plywood offshore racer by Dudley Dix, drawn to the Class 950 box rule for short-handed racing. It grew from his Didi Mini Mk3, with a topside chine, twin transom-hung rudders and a fixed or lifting keel with a lead bulb drawing 2.35 m. Beam is 3.65 m, measurement displacement 2,700 kg and sail area 864 sq ft. The interior also works as a performance cruiser for two couples.
The drawings are very thoroughly detailed for amateur or professional builders, the cabintop and topside chine are stitch and glue, and pre-cut kits are sold in the USA and elsewhere. Expect 3,500 to 5,000 hours as a rule of thumb. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Didi 950 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
