Didi MG30
Designed by Dudley Dix
A 9.6 m (31 ft 6 in) radius chine plywood racer by Dudley Dix, drawn to the MG30 Rule, which has since lapsed. It was meant to let an owner builder on a tight budget race competitively. Built in okoume plywood it comes out near the class minimum of 2,300 kg. Draft is 1.95 m, with water ballast tanks at the turn of the bilge and an optional lifting keel.
Stringers slot into the bulkheads in the manner of a model aeroplane, much of the structure is self-jigging, and the cabintop is stitch and glue. Expect roughly 3,000 to 4,500 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Didi MG30 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
