Dixi Dinghy 8

An 8 ft 2 in (2.5 m) stitch and glue plywood dinghy by Dudley Dix, first commissioned as a yacht tender and sharing a page with its bigger sister, the Argie 10. It can be rowed, motored or sailed with a free-standing two-piece mast and sleeve-luffed sail that stow inside the hull. The rowing hull comes out of two sheets of 6 mm plywood, including buoyancy compartments fore and aft, and weighs roughly 27 to 30 kg. An aluminum version and plywood kits are also offered.
The designer says it needs no previous boatbuilding experience, few tools, little space and no building stocks, and the plans include step-by-step instructions. Budget 30 to 60 hours. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
