Kiwi PDR

Welsford's own account is that he first saw the Puddle Duck Racer, dismissed it as a ridiculous little box for people who thought they could not build a real boat, and got on with other things. It kept reappearing. The PDR is not a boat but a set of rules, in which almost anything is allowed so long as the lower part of the hull matches every other, which leaves a great deal of room to play, and once reputable builders and sailors started turning up at regional and world championships he drew this version.
A Puddle Duck Racer drawn to the class rules: 8 ft by 4 ft, about 65 lb, and 55 sq ft of sail, or 77 for racing. Square, cheap and quick to build, and by the designer's reckoning more fun per dollar than anything else he draws.
