Pratique 35

Designed by Dudley Dix

A 34 ft 5 in (10.5 m) steel cruising cutter, the first steel design by Dudley Dix with traditional styling. The original is multi-chine steel with a timber or steel deck; a radius chine version in steel or aluminum was added in 1998. The prototype, Salty Dog II, made three Atlantic and two Pacific crossings. Displacement is 8,160 kg, sail area 657 sq ft, power 20 to 30 hp.

It was drawn for the reasonably skilled amateur, with widely spaced frames and closer stringers to help a first-time plater get a fair hull. CNC cutting files cover all steel panels of the multi-chine version. Welding skill is needed. Allow 4,000 to 6,000 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
