TLC 19
Designed by Dudley Dix
A 19 ft (5.8 m) fiberglass performance trailer-sailer by Dudley Dix, commissioned for production by Nebe Boats of Cape Town and also built in Turkey and, modified, in Italy. It has a near-plumb bow, broad flat stern, fractional sloop rig of 186 sq ft and four full-length berths. Choose an external swing keel with 0.65 m draft raised, or fixed wing or bulb keels. A custom open version carried Anthony Steward on the only open boat circumnavigation, in 1991 and 1992.
It was designed for female moulds, but the designer says a skilled amateur could build one in sandwich fiberglass. Expect 1,200 to 2,000 hours as a rule of thumb, including the plug or mould work a one-off needs. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
