Windy 900
Designed by Dudley Dix
A 29 ft 2 in (8.9 m) fiberglass cruiser-racer by Dudley Dix, commissioned by Marintek of Istanbul and later produced by F & A Yachting. It has a very long waterline, flat run aft, bulbed fin keel drawing 1.7 m and positive stability to 145 degrees. Two swept-spreader rigs are drawn, a tall one of 383 sq ft and a short one of 336 sq ft for family sailing. Displacement is 3,000 kg.
The page presents it as a factory production boat and does not discuss amateur building. A one-off fiberglass hull of this size would suit an experienced builder, at roughly 3,000 to 4,500 hours as a general rule of thumb. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Windy 900 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
