Multichine 26C
Designed by Roberto Barros
A small ocean cruiser in the Multichine family, 8.74 m overall with a 3.12 m beam. The length was chosen, the designers say, mainly to get at least 1.85 m of headroom in the saloon, and the boat is aimed at amateurs who want a finish better than most production boats of the size.
Construction is plywood with epoxy and glass, the Multichine method of plywood panels fastened to frames set up on the workbench. The plans run to full size hull patterns, lines, sail and deck plans, interior, structure, sections with plywood cutting layouts, and keel drawings for both a lead and steel box keel and a centreboard version. Displacement is 2,500 kg with 930 kg of ballast, sail area 30.55 square metres, with a 9 hp inboard or a 15 hp outboard.
What building a Multichine 26C actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
