Snowshoe Lassie

Designed by Platt Monfort

A small solo canoe drawn to roughly the dimensions of J. Henry Rushton's Wee Lassie, the nineteenth century featherweight that Atwood Manley wrote about in his book on Rushton. Monfort describes the type as a revelation: relaxed in its stability for such a little boat, and inclined to track as though it were on a rail.

No length is given on the plan page, but the design is pitched as a good choice for a light first time builder. It is built with the Geodesic Airolite system of thin wooden stringers over stations, Kevlar cross bracing and a shrunk polyester skin, which brings the old idea of a canoe that one person can carry anywhere into modern materials.
