Fancy Free
Designed by Glen-L Marine
A 21 ft 3 in gaff-rigged sharpie from Glen-L Marine, a flat-bottomed, hard-chine cruising dory drawing 8 in with the board up, with camping-style accommodation for two, a well-mounted outboard to 4 hp, and about 2,500 lb of displacement including ballast.
The straight-contoured frames and standard sheet plywood are chosen for the amateur. Budget 600 to 1,000 hours over one to three years. Measured medians from logged builds are below.
What building a Fancy Free actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
