Foamee
Designed by Glen-L Marine
A 9 ft round-bilge sailing dinghy from Glen-L Marine built in PVC foam sandwich with fiberglass both sides, so it comes out looking molded without a mold. Sock-type cat rig with daggerboard, rows, or takes a 3 hp outboard, about 85 lb. Several builders have cold-molded it in wood veneer instead.
Glen-L recommends it as the place to learn foam-sandwich work before a larger one-off design. Budget 100 to 180 hours with fairing and rig. Measured medians from logged builds are below.
What building a Foamee actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
