A 17 ft 3 in minimum overnighter sloop from Glen-L Marine: two berths, space for a portable toilet, a masthead rig with all lines led aft for single-handing, and an outboard to 10 hp. Three-eighths plywood on a beamy vee-bottomed hull, about 475 lb. Glen-L publish a beam of 6 ft 11 in and a draft of 14 in.
They put the usual load at 2 to 4 people. Sail area is Main - 81 sq ft Jib - 55 sq ft Genoa - 98 sq ft Totals - 136 or 179 sq ft. Displacement is 1287 lb. Headroom below is 3'-0". The hull is a vee bottom hard chine developed for 3/8" sheet plywood planking. They draw a matching trailer for her. The plans cover building forms, spars and rigging with step-by-step instructions, so an amateur with one smaller boat behind them will manage. Budget 350 to 600 hours, typically one to two seasons.
