12 ft Outboard Skiff
Designed by Grandpa's Archive
William D. Jackson's Craft Print Project No. 311, a 12 ft by 5 ft square-ended jon boat for hunting and fishing. The article describes it as a type older than the American colonies, updated with lightweight plywood construction, and the photographs show it under a small outboard and in the marsh grass as a gunning boat.
The Statement of Uses gives 110 lb, three to five adults, AC exterior plywood panels formed over wooden frames and outboards of 1 to 6 hp. Jackson estimated about $30 of material and two days of work, and pictured it riding on a car-top carrier. Building starts with full-size drawings of the stem and transom laid out on a plywood panel. What building a 12 ft Outboard Skiff actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
