Blue Bill
Designed by Grandpa's Archive
Blue Bill is a 13 ft 6 in combination kayak and canoe with a 3 ft 2 in beam and 12 in depth, weighing 75 lb and seating three. Hunters and sportsmen were the intended buyers; the article lists uses as duck boat, canoe, kayak or outboard kayak on sheltered water.
It is a wood frame covered in canvas, with a flat bottom and knuckle joints, built on a form with frames cut from marine plywood, a keel, chines and battens of spruce, fir, cedar or similar. The plans offer two models: a double-ended paddling boat, or a transom version extended aft for outboards of 1 to 6 hp. The scan includes a full materials list.
What building a Blue Bill actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
