Wood Duck 14

Designed by Eric Schade

A 13 ft 9 in recreational kayak by Eric Schade for Chesapeake Light Craft, the largest single Wood Duck. It adds volume and a 49 1/2 in cockpit for big and tall paddlers, or for a child or a large dog, and the page recommends it for paddlers over 200 lb. Beam is 30 in, weight about 52 lb, payload 400 lb, with bulkheads and flush hatches at both ends. It is also pitched as a fishing platform. Kits and plans are sold.

CLC calls it an ideal first boatbuilding project: computer-cut panels, puzzle joints and pre-drilled wire holes. Rated beginner at an estimated 80 hours. Budget 70 to 110. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
