A 4.2 m single sea kayak by Cristian Pilo of Modern Wooden Boat, aimed at light and less experienced paddlers who want a steady first boat. The designer stresses its large initial stability and good carrying capacity from two lockers, and says plainly that it is not built for speed. Beam is 65 cm, weight about 18 kg, paddler range 50 to 75 kg and recommended maximum load 110 kg. Plans are sold through Nautikit.
Stitch and glue construction in 4 mm okoume plywood, wired, epoxy glued and glass taped at the chines. Cristian Pilo rates the family for builders with basic woodworking experience and quotes 60 to 85 hours depending on skill. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
