Falcon
Designed by Grandpa's Archive
Falcon is a 14 ft centerboard sloop published as Craft Print Project No. 30. The article says tests of the original showed her outsailing one-design Snipes and Comets and keeping pace with 18 footers carrying much more sail, with her speed little changed by two or four aboard.
White oak is recommended for all the framing, the transom is 1/2 in waterproof mahogany plywood, and the frames are assembled flat on full-size paper patterns and bolted and glued. Mold frame No. 3 can be any pine as it only shapes the hull and comes out after planking; the plywood skin carries the load once it is removed. A free scan of a vintage plan for someone who wants a lively small sloop.
What building a Falcon actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
