Little Chief Canoe
Designed by Grandpa's Archive
Little Chief is a canoe from a vintage magazine meant to be built from ordinary materials for a fraction of the price of a bought canoe. It has molded lines and can be built as a paddling canoe or, with small changes, to take a small outboard.
The molds and stems are drawn full size on folded paper so both halves match, then set on a form at working height. A 3/4 x 1 1/2 in keel tapers into the stems, and twelve stringers run over the molds; a photograph shows the finished framework with its stringers before covering. The scan is three pages, so it is an article rather than a full plan set.
What building a Little Chief Canoe actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
