Haiku 700
Designed by Cristian Pilo
A 6.2 m daysailer by Cristian Pilo of Modern Wooden Boat, 7.05 m overall with the bowsprit. The beamy chined hull has flat aft sections for planing off the wind, a lifting keel with a 120 kg lead bulb drawing 1.72 m down and 0.40 m raised, twin transom-hung rudders and a square-top main with 19.7 square metres upwind plus a 23 square metre gennaker. Light displacement is 710 kg, beam a trailerable 2.50 m with a V-berth cabin.
The hull is stitch and glue plywood over four temporary frames, which the designer calls the easiest way to build a seven metre boat; the rig can be home made too. Budget 800 to 1,400 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Haiku 700 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
