17' Rangeley Double Ender

A 17 ft double-ended variant of Newfound Woodworks' strip-built Rangeley Lake boat, the Maine sporting rowboat the company drew from John Gardner's published offsets. About 115 lb, 48 in beam, 730 lb capacity. Like the transom 17, it is 2 ft longer and 2 in wider than the 15 footer, with room for two rowers or two anglers; Newfound notes many 17s have gone to Wisconsin for row trolling.
A pointed stern in place of the transom, then decks, thwarts, seats and oar blocks. First-time strip builders are pointed to the rowboat Pre-Kit. As a rule of thumb, budget 280 to 420 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
