Whitehall
Designed by Glen-L Marine
A 16 ft 11 in traditional Whitehall pulling boat from Glen-L Marine, with the type's wine-glass transom and straight keel, drawn for one to three rowers. The wood version is strip planked, edge-glued and nailed into a stress-skin hull, which puts a round-bilge classic within reach of an amateur; a C-Flex fiberglass version is on the same plans. Glen-L publish a beam of 4 ft 6 in and a hull depth of 2 ft 6 in.
They put the usual load at 2 to 6 people. The hull is a traditional round bilge Whitehall rowing for wood or fiberglass construction. For power they specify 8' to 9' long, one to three oarsmen. They draw a matching trailer for her. Strip planking asks more patience than skill, but there is a lot of it on a 17 ft round-bottomed hull, plus fairing and finishing bright if you want the classic look. Budget 300 to 500 hours. The medians from build logs below will tell you what builders actually spent.
What building a Whitehall actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
