17' Rangeley Lake Boat
Designed by Newfound Woodworks
A 17 ft Rangeley Lake boat from Newfound Woodworks, the largest transom version of its strip-built take on the Maine fishing rowboat recorded by John Gardner. It is 2 ft longer and 2 in wider than the 15, at 48 in beam, about 115 lb and 790 lb capacity, for two people fishing or two rowers. Many have been built for row trolling for muskies in Wisconsin. The boat features in Susan Van Leuven's strip-building book.
The same build as the smaller Rangeleys with more hull to strip and sheathe: transom, deck and coaming, thwarts and stern seat. As a rule of thumb, budget 280 to 420 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.

Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
