Design
Dingo
Designed by Plyboat
At 2 m, Dingo is Plyboat's shortest design and, at about 13 kg, one of the easiest to carry, cartop or launch from a yacht. It is a general purpose rowing dinghy with a 1.2 m beam, wide enough to stand up in, and it is rated for a crew and gear load of up to 180 kg.
A motor of no more than 1.5 hp, or an electric outboard, can go on the transom, and the designer then recommends adding buoyancy under the bench. For two people he suggests either a stern bench or a full-length longitudinal seat to keep the boat trimmed, plus a second pair of oarlocks further forward. The hull comes from two sheets of 6 mm exterior plywood with all parts nested on the drawings, and the instructions run to 28 illustrated pages.
What building a Dingo actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
