Mighty Mouse
Designed by Plyboat
Mighty Mouse is the grown-up version of Mickey Mouse, a 2.4 m rowing boat with a narrow 0.8 m beam, a more streamlined hull for speed and higher freeboard for load and reserve buoyancy. The hull is symmetrical about amidships, which makes the stitch and glue build even simpler, and all the parts fit on one and a half sheets of 6 mm exterior plywood, so two friends can buy three sheets and build two boats.
She weighs about 16 kg and carries up to 130 kg. The designer is honest that she is tender when boarding but firms up once seated, much like a dory, and is quick and lively under oars. A seat with a backrest is drawn, the rear bulkhead acts as a foot brace, and there are flotation compartments at each end. Plans include the seat and oars.
What building a Mighty Mouse actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
