Laker SC12
Designed by Bob Dillon
A 12 ft 3 in tunnel boat drawn for APBA Sport C racing, with a 75 in beam and a hull of about 250 lb. Bob Dillon gave it more length and deeper, more buoyant stern sections than his smaller tunnels so it can carry heavier motors in the 150 to 180 lb range, and he positions it between the Pro Tunnel and the Laker 14 for engines of 40 to 60 hp, including small three-cylinders, big twins and old four-cylinders such as the Mercury 500.
He specifies 3 mm plywood for the deck and cowling and 5 or 6 mm for the rest, and is relaxed about using true exterior-grade luan instead of okoume as long as the stringers and bulkheads behind it are sound. The construction notes were adapted from those for his Sport C and Laker 14. At least one builder has documented a complete SC12 build in a video series.
What building a Laker SC12 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
