Flats River Skiff 18
Designed by Salt Boatworks
The largest of the Flats River skiffs, 18 ft 6 in by 7 ft 3 in, intended for taking family or friends fishing on bays and flats. Unusually, the one set of plans covers two interiors: a bay boat with an open cockpit, recessed foredeck and center console with leaning post, or a flats boat with full decks fore and aft and a side or center console. The kit costs the same either way and the choice is made after ordering.
Aft deadrise is 12 degrees with a sharp entry, draft runs from 8 in light to 11 in loaded, and she carries 1,400 lb. A 90 hp outboard is recommended and 115 hp is the maximum, for a 25 to 30 mph cruise and 40 to 45 mph top end. Construction is stitch and glue in 3/8 in and 1/2 in marine plywood, fully sheathed in glass. The designers suggest some previous woodworking experience for this one.
What building a Flats River Skiff 18 actually takes

Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
