A 9.9 m (32 ft) performance cruising catamaran by Richard Woods of Woods Designs, who built the prototype for himself, won the 2002 Round the Island Race with it and then sailed it over 15,000 miles to the Caribbean and North America. Strip cedar round-bilge hulls with plywood decks, or foam sandwich. Beam 5.9 m, about 2.75 tonnes empty, 57 sq m of sail, standing headroom throughout, daggerboards or keels, outboard or twin diesels.
Woods is frank that this was a big job: 2,700 hours is his minimum to a basic fit out, and he put in a further 1,000 after first sailing his own. A first-time builder should budget 3,500 to 5,500. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
