Sango

Designed by Richard Woods

A 7.7 m (25 ft 2 in) enlargement of the Wizard by Richard Woods of Woods Designs, keeping the central cuddy layout but with a bigger galley, a longer cockpit and more load capacity. Strip plank hulls with a plywood cuddy are standard, with foam sandwich or a nearly identical hard-chine plywood dory hull as options. Beam 4.5 m, about 900 kg empty, 32.4 sq m of sail, still legally trailable behind a large car. An Australian owner reports 22.6 knots.

Woods notes the plywood hull suits those who prefer simple building over ultimate performance. His minimum is 900 hours to a basic fit out for a practised builder, so budget 1,200 to 1,800 first time round. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
