Skua

A 9 m (29 ft 6 in) demountable coastal cruiser and racer from Richard Woods of Woods Designs, which he calls the largest boat that can sensibly be taken apart and towed behind a car. Round-bilge hulls in strip cedar or cold moulding with plywood decks, daggerboards and kick-up rudders. Beam 5.6 m, about 1.1 tonnes empty, 41 sq m of sail, four berths. An owner reports 20 knots off the wind, and one Skua crossed the Atlantic from Germany in 2002.
Think of it as a grown-up Strider: light, round-bilge and lightly fitted out. Woods lists 550 hours as his Strider minimum and 1,200 for the similar-length Windsong, so budget 1,500 to 2,500 as a rule of thumb. Real hours from logged builds are below.
