Aegean 30

Designed by Richard Woods

A 9.2 m (30 ft 2 in) demountable power catamaran from Richard Woods of Woods Designs, developed from the Skoota 28 for a cruising family. The beam grows to 5.0 m, which allows symmetric hulls with standing headroom and a single berth in each, while the central cabin and cockpit stay much the same. Plywood construction, about 2.5 tonnes empty, twin 40 to 60 hp outboards for a 10 to 12 knot cruise. The first owner saw 18.5 knots on twin 50s.

The materials list is 100 sheets of plywood, 160 kg of epoxy and 8,000 screws. Woods lists 2,000 hours as a practised builder's minimum for the smaller Skoota 28, so budget 2,500 to 4,000 as a rule of thumb. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
