A 9.15 m (30 ft) open-deck ocean cruising catamaran by Richard Woods of Woods Designs, based on Cockleshell Hero, the first Woods design, launched in 1979. Deep vee hulls in sheet plywood or flat panel GRP with plywood decks. Beam 5.4 m, about 1.8 tonnes empty, 35 sq m of sail, 1.8 m headroom, and a single centreboard under a saloon seat. Woods rates it about the smallest sensible ocean cruiser, and several have crossed the Atlantic.
Deep vee hulls and an open deck keep the build simple for the size. Woods's minimum is 1,200 hours to a basic fit out ready to paint for a practised builder, so budget 1,800 to 2,800 first time. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
