Kastri
Designed by Andrew Walters
Kastri started life as a teaching exercise. In 2013 Andrew Walters wanted a design simple enough to walk a beginner through boat design in SketchUp, from drawing lines in 3D space to flattening hull panels, and the result was this 12 ft by 5 ft shallow V planing boat. He liked it enough to finish a full set of plans, tidying a few lines along the way.
The bare hull weighs about 210 lb and is built from roughly six and a half sheets of plywood joined with glass tape and epoxy. Using the Crouch formula, the designer estimates around 22 knots with 10 hp and one person aboard, and about 19 knots with 15 hp and four. That makes her an economical small outboard skiff for a builder who wants a little more sea manners than a flat bottom gives.
What building a Kastri actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.

If you are building one, yours becomes the reference: the page the next person building this boat finds when they search for it. One photo and one line is a valid first entry.
