Grace's Tender

An 8 ft rowing and sailing dinghy by Arch Davis, drawn as a yacht tender that carries a good load, rows easily into a harbor chop and at 55 lb can be carried up the beach by one person. Beam is about 4 ft and the simple rig sets 39 sq ft. The prototype was built by the designer's daughter Grace when she was ten. A complete kit is offered.
Conventional sheet plywood over a keel and chines, set up on three temporary frames that slot onto a T-section strongback. The designer treats it as an introduction to boatbuilding and lists only basic hand tools, a jigsaw and a drill. Budget 60 to 120 hours.
