TimberCoast 22
Designed by Tad Roberts
A displacement cousin of the Bartender, drawn by Canadian naval architect Tad Roberts of Gabriola Island, British Columbia. The idea came from the many Bartenders that had been loaded down and run slowly as salmon trollers; rather than ask a planing hull to do that job, Bartender Boats commissioned a true displacement boat with the same look. Roberts kept the sheer and flared topsides but shortened the overhangs to stretch the waterline, ran a deep keel the full length and veed the hull throughout so the engine and tanks sit low.
She is 21 ft 10.5 in overall, 20 ft 2 in on the waterline, with a 7 ft 4 in beam, 2 ft 5 in draft and about 3,600 lb displacement, and needs only 10 to 30 hp. Because the hull is deep and stable, she is the one model in the range on which the sellers accept an enclosed wheelhouse. Plans come with full-size patterns. A small, frugal cruiser for someone who would rather go a long way slowly.
What building a TimberCoast 22 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
