Gulfstream 28 X
Designed by Jacques Mertens
A 28 ft offshore powerboat by Jacques Mertens of Bateau, the options version of the GulfStream 28. The X plans add a flared bow, a closed transom for a bracket or a rounded transom for a stern drive, an optional skeg keel, gas or diesel inboard power, and a choice of open cockpit or forward jump cabin. Beam is 8 ft 2 in, displacement 5,000 lb, power 125 to 300 hp.
Plywood cored epoxy composite on a jig, or foam sandwich over a slat mold. The designer's figure is 180 hours for the plywood hull shell and 400 to 600 for a finished boat, or about 300 hours for a foam shell. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Gulfstream 28 X actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
