Kingfisher 28
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 28 ft diesel pilothouse cruiser by Sam Devlin, a scaled-down take on his Kingfisher 33 for people who want a seaworthy boat under 30 ft. Flybridge and sedan versions are shown. The layout has twin or island berths forward, a head to port and shower to starboard, a raised pilothouse with a two-person dinette and galley and a covered cockpit. Power options run from about 60 hp for 6 to 9 knots up to 260 hp for mid-teens cruising.
Only a three-drawing study plan is sold and the site publishes no dimensions beyond the nominal length, so construction drawings would need to be commissioned. For an experienced amateur, a rule of thumb is 3,500 to 5,000 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Kingfisher 28 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
