Indian River Skiff 15
Designed by Jacques Mertens
A 15 ft 4 in general purpose outboard skiff by Jacques Mertens, sold by Bateau / Boat Builder Central as the D15. Light at about 135 lb for the hull, it planes with 10 hp, is rated to 25 hp and draws 4 in. The plans show three layouts: semi-decked, fully decked for fishing, or open with thwarts.
Stitch and glue from 6 mm side panels cut to full-size patterns, bent around a mid frame and joined without scarfs, then glassed outside and epoxy coated throughout. The designer describes it as very easy, with no woodworking skills required: under 20 hours to assemble the hull and about 50 hours for a show finish. A first-timer might budget 50 to 100 hours. Logged build hours for this design are shown below.
