A 23 ft 7 in full displacement mini trawler by Jacques Mertens, sold by Bateau / Boat Builder Central as the Maia 24 (MT24). It sleeps up to four with an outboard or inboard diesel of 10 to 25 hp. Beam is 8 ft 6 in, draft 1 ft 11 in, and displacement is 4,200 lb, of which 3,100 lb is the fitted-out boat with engine, tanks and galley.
Stitch and glue with a plywood-cored glass sandwich bottom, and interior furniture that doubles as structure. The designer advises against making it a first boat and suggests building one of his small designs first. His figure is 340 hours for the hull and 750 or more finished. Budget 1,000 to 1,800.
