A 15 ft 2 in planing vee-hull outboard skiff by Jacques Mertens, sold by Bateau / Boat Builder Central as the OB15 and one of the house's most popular plans. It is the largest hull that four sheets of plywood allow, meant for semi-protected water. Beam is 5 ft 6 in, hull weight about 385 lb, 25 hp is ideal and 50 hp the maximum.
More composite than plain plywood, it can be built stitch and glue or over simple molds, and overlapping panels form a built-in chine like a molded fiberglass hull. The designer says a first-time builder can do it and gives 80 to 120 hours. A complete first boat more often takes 150 to 250. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
