Outboard Skiff 17
Designed by Jacques Mertens
A 16 ft 11 in vee-hull outboard boat by Jacques Mertens for Bateau / Boat Builder Central, plan OB17, drawn with either a centre console or dual consoles. It is the biggest hull obtainable from seven sheets of plywood and still has a self-bailing cockpit averaging 24 in deep. Beam is 6 ft 6 in, hull weight about 750 lb with console and tank, and power is 30 to 75 hp.
Stitch and glue with a plywood-cored glass sandwich bottom, set up on a self-aligning jig that cuts down on levelling. Many cuts are straight lines made flat on the floor. The designer's figure is 80 hours for the hull and 200 or more finished. Budget 250 to 450. Logged build hours for this design are shown below.

Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
