17 ft V Hull 480
Designed by Response Marine
A 17 ft by 6 ft 6 in welded aluminum vee skiff whose first example was built by Viking Welding as a tiller-steered lobster boat, which is why the drawings show a wide port gunwale for hauling. Later boats by Winninghoff Boats and others have had narrower gunwales, side or center consoles, and in some cases the raised forward coaming removed.
Deadrise runs from 10 degrees at the transom to 19 at station 4 and a fine 55 at the cutwater, and the bottom and sides are 0.190 in plate with 3/8 in chine flats and keelson. She weighs about 1,000 lb bare and 1,500 lb rigged, and has been powered with outboards from 10 to 90 hp. The designers say she trims well either with a person at the tiller and a load on deck or with a console layout. Separate drawing sets cover outboard and inboard versions.
