Seabright Tunnel 21

Designed by Jacques Mertens

A 21 ft 8 in shallow-draft inboard launch by Jacques Mertens for Bateau, using the Atkin style tunnel stern derived from the Seabright skiff and its wide box keel. It draws 6 in at 1,760 lb and 9 in at 2,900 lb. Beam is a slim 5 ft 10 in. The recommended engine is a 21 hp diesel, and the designer says the hull works best between 12 and 18 mph.

Built upside down on a jig in plywood and epoxy composite, with keel stringers that double as engine girders. The designer states it is not a first-time project because the hull shape is complicated. No hours are published; budget 600 to 1,000 including the inboard installation. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
